So it’s aspect ratio should be I guess. So the Monitor’s blue-headed cable for the lack of a better term is connected to my Motherboard instead of my graphics card as it usually is. My parents couldn’t afford to buy a new graphics card just yet. My PC doesn’t seem to show my motherboard’s model, but it’s an old Gigabyte one my parents bought in My PC’s performing as fast as ever, but I can’t set my monitor’s resolution as x The highest two resolutions available are x which sounds so weird I didn’t even know such a resolution existed and x I’m using x as I type this.
It really hurts my eyes and gives me a minor headache. I should probably contact my computer repair guy and ask this question to him, but it’s already pretty late here so I thought I’d ask you guys and save the hassle by myself. So do you guys know any possible solutions? I tried unplugging the monitor cable and plugging it back in, but that didn’t work. I tried going to Device manager, clicked on Display adapters, “Microsoft Basic Display Adapter” was the only thing that came down and I tried updating the driver as suggested in many other similar questions like mine but it says “the best drivers for your device are already installed”.

I downloaded and installed the “Radeon Software Crimson Edition Beta” driver too and there were no changes either, but I notice that “Microsoft Basic Display Adapter” under Display adapters in Device manager is now disabled.
There’s still nothing else other than Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. Also, I’m not sure whether was this change caused by installing “Catalyst Software Suite” or “Radeon Software Crimson Edition Beta” because I didn’t check device manager after installing the former. I see. I suppose I’ll just contact my computer repair guy again tomorrow. Thank you so much for your help so far though!
And by the way, is there a way to uninstall all those AMD drivers that I did just install? So we went to Gigabyte’s website and downloaded the VGA driver for it. There was no Windows 10 bit version, so he downloaded the Windows 7 bit one.
Then he opened Device Manager, clicked Display adapters, right-clicked on Microsoft Basic Display Adapter and clicked on Update Driver, and clicked on “Browse my computer for driver software”. After restarting my PC, the issue was gone and my resolution was automatically x Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community.

It is possible that the motherboard is too old and a correct Windows 10 video device driver for the on-board graphics cannot be found. In Device Manager, in the Display Adapters section, what is now listed there? Only Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.
And it’s now disabled. Okay I’ve finally solved this! I contacted my computer repair guy. He extracted all files to Desktop. This site in other languages x.

I got a laptop with Windows 10 a few months back. I decided to reset Windows 10 as I was having some problems with speed, browsers crashing, etc. Since I’ve reset it though, the screen resolution is tiny and it won’t let me change it. It’s stuck on setting 1. I know this question has been asked before, but I’ve now spent hours trying to resolve it using previous threads – made sure I’ve got all the Windows 10 updates, tried updating the driver, etc.

I’d gone into the Device Manager but couldn’t see anything for compatibility mode in there.
For the setup file, you would have to visit your manufacturer’ website. For eg: If it is Dell, go the dell website and download the drivers. Install it in compatibility mode later.
I have tried this method. But while installing, it says “NVidia graphics driver is not compatible with this version of windows”.
