So do you guys know any possible solutions? I tried unplugging the monitor cable and plugging it back in, but that didn’t work. I tried going to Device manager, clicked on Display adapters, “Microsoft Basic Display Adapter” was the only thing that came down and I tried updating the driver as suggested in many other similar questions like mine but it says “the best drivers for your device are already installed”.

Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. I knew it that I should’ve included it in my first post! I downloaded and installed the “Radeon Software Crimson Edition Beta” driver too and there were no changes either, but I notice that “Microsoft Basic Display Adapter” under Display adapters in Device manager is now disabled.

There’s still nothing else other than Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. Also, I’m not sure whether was this change caused by installing “Catalyst Software Suite” or “Radeon Software Crimson Edition Beta” because I didn’t check device manager after installing the former. I see. I suppose I’ll just contact my computer repair guy again tomorrow. Thank you so much for your help so far though!

And by the way, is there a way to uninstall all those AMD drivers that I did just install? So we went to Gigabyte’s website and downloaded the VGA driver for it. There was no Windows 10 bit version, so he downloaded the Windows 7 bit one.

Then he opened Device Manager, clicked Display adapters, right-clicked on Microsoft Basic Display Adapter and clicked on Update Driver, and clicked on “Browse my computer for driver software”. After restarting my PC, the issue was gone and my resolution was automatically x Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community.

Why am I unable to increase the resolution in Windows?.

I got a laptop with Windows 10 a few months back. I decided to reset Windows 10 as I was having some problems with speed, browsers crashing, etc. Since I’ve reset it though, the screen resolution is tiny and it won’t let me change it.
