Zoom – Disable Recording Passwords
By default, Zoom cloud recordings are locked with a randomly generated password, for security reasons. The following instructions will show you how to disable this password for both past and future meetings.
Note that these settings must be changed at umd. Disabling Passwords on Future Recordings Follow these steps to prevent Zoom from automatically generating passwords for meetings you record: Go to umd. Once logged in, navigate to Settings by clicking the ‘Settings’ tab on the left side of the screen. By default, it will open up your Meeting settings. Select the ‘Recording’ tab at the top of the page to switch to the appropriate settings page.
Scroll down until you see the option ‘Require password to access shared cloud recordings’. Toggle the slider on the right side of the screen to turn off this setting for future recordings.
Disabling Passwords on Past Recordings Any meetings recorded before the setting above is turned off will automatically have passwords created for them, and you will have to manually disable the password for each past meeting: Go to umd. Once logged in, navigate to your previous recordings by clicking the ‘Recordings’ tab on the left side of the screen.
Find the recording that you want to disable the password for and hit ‘Share’. Within the window that pops up, toggle the slider next to ‘Password Protect’ to disable the password for this meeting.

Sign in with your Butler credentials. Full email address and password 3. Select Recordings from the left column. Choose a recording and click the Share Select or enable the Password protection option. Enter the desired password user wishes to use user can elect to view password by clicking the Show button , then click Save 7. Below where the password was entered there is Recording Link Information. If desired, expand that to reveal the link information.
When user is satisfied with settings, click the Done button. Make sure to do this procedure to all of the recordings. To Remove the Password: 1. Repeat steps 1 through 4 from above. De-select or disable the Password protection option. Click the Done button. Note: Strongly consider downloading these recordings and uploading them to Panopto or Canvas as they only exist within Zoom for 14 days and then are deleted.
